No, this isn't an article about the trivia questions displayed at Spartan Stadium during a game in 2023. This is about this week's trivia competition! Featuring Sparty and the Nittany Lion.

Answers to Week 3 questions

1 In the Big Ten, what does NU stand for?
Northwestern University. I would have also accepted Nowledge University.
Funniest answer: At present, Nebraska University (HeWasAHSQB)

2 Where do Iowa and Nebraska rank nationally in corn production?
Iowa is first, the Cornhuskers a dismal third. One point for each correct answer, all three points if both are correct.
Funniest answer: Definitely top 50 (waw)

3 The Hawkeyes have won how many wrestling team national championships?
24 which is good enough for second most nationally behind Oklahoma State's 34.
Funniest answer: With apologies to our wrestling fans, "I thought this was a sports blog (waw)"

4 What was the title of former Iowa men's basketball head coach Fran McCaffery's basketball coaching DVD?
Technically McCaffery has done three coaching DVDs, but the one I was thinking of was "Fran McCaffery: Building a Championship Defense". None of you guessed either of the other titles so it doesn't really matter.
Funniest answer: The correct answer because Fran never had a championship defense or knew how to coach defense. Out of the answers you all provided, "'Defense optional' with Fran McCaffrey (Need a new nickname). Tough competition for the bonus points on this question - many great title suggestions for Fran's next DVD.

5 Name the Nebraska Cornhuskers that have won the Heisman trophy.
Johnny Rodgers (1972), Mike Rozier (1983), and Eric Crouch (2001). One point for each Heisman winner named correctly.
Funniest answer: Scott Frost and Lawrence Phillips (John Michaux)

6 Name the third largest city in Iowa and the third largest city in Nebraska.
Davenport (Iowa) and Bellevue (Nebraska). I would have also accepted Memorial Stadium on football Saturdays for Nebraska. One point for each correct city, all three points for both.
Funniest answer: Des Moines and Lincoln (John Michaux)

7 Floyd of Rosedale was named after who?
The pig was named after Minnesota Governor Floyd Olson. The statue is technically named after the pig so I'll begrudgingly grant partial credit (1 point) to ajcusterIU and HeWasAHSQB.
Funniest answer: Horace Pigface, starting right guard for the nineteen aught seven Goofers (ViceroyFizzlebottom)

8 When did Nebraska's sellout streak of home football games begin? Bonus point for correctly mentioning the current length of the "streak".
Nebraska "claims" a sellout streak of 403 games starting in November 3, 1962.
Funniest answer: This is too much to take. So much self-congratulation around this that I’ll take the zero on principle (Need a new nickname)

9 In what sport have the Nebraska Cornhuskers been most successful at winning national championships and how many championships have they won in that sport?
Women's Bowling with 11 (5 in the WIBC, 6 in the NCAA). 2 points for the sport, 1 for the number.
Funniest answer: probably meat judging and like 11 (HeWasAHSQB)

10 How many days was the University of Iowa founded after the state was admitted to the Union?
February 25, 1847, just 59 days. The official name is actually the State University of Iowa (SUI).
Funniest answer: Trick question it was founded before it was a state (wesd2005). I do like trick questions, but this wasn't one of them.
