The Sherman Grants: Time to Vote!
In which we make a collective choice for a good cause.
As a reminder as to what this entire project is, hit the link below! But TLDR, last year we proposed small, local charities in our communities. We voted to pick one to collectively support. We ended up raising nearly $5,000.00 as a collection of college football fan weirdos. Let's do it again!
Just a note: All four of the proposed options are astounding, wonderful organizations and I am so thankful for DeadRead, ckstevenson, Mochica, and wankerman for proposing them. No matter how our vote shakes out, they are all immensely worthy of support.

The Charities
CentrePointe
"CenterPointe is a nonprofit healthcare provider serving Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, dedicated to helping people get better, sooner, for longer. We offer over forty programs, including mental health and substance use treatment, primary care services, rehabilitation, medication management, 24-hour crisis response, street outreach, and housing. Most of those served experience severe and persistent mental illness, addiction, and health issues. Nearly all are low or no income."
Restoration Immigration Legal Aid
"We represent asylum-seekers and immigrant children in the Northern Virginia area who have experienced significant trauma and loss, having fled from their home countries to find protection and safety. Apart from RILA, our clients would likely navigate the immigration system on their own–a nearly impossible task, especially for non-English speakers, with few to no resources, who are recovering from severe trauma. Our clients are our neighbors who are seeking (and often struggling) to make a home here."
ICCF Community Homes
"ICCF Community Homes is the oldest nonprofit affordable housing provider in Michigan. We’ve been active in the Grand Rapids area since 1974 and engage 2,000+ households each year with housing-related services. We manage over 600 units of affordable rental housing and provide homeownership education and home purchase opportunities to hundreds of neighbors."
Origami Rehabilitation
"At Origami Rehabilitation, our mission is to create opportunities and transform lives. We strive to be the leader in maximizing access to innovative services with exceptional results. This is at the heart of what we do every single day. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive rehabilitation for children, adolescents, and adults with neurological, developmental, mental health, and orthopedic conditions through their residential and outpatient programs."
