WWBWWBD - Week 9

Find out which haunts your "writers" are haunting this weekend—and whether the real fright is lurking in the shadows or waiting in a glass of Malört.

WWBWWBD - Week 9

Where We Be, What We Be Drinking (WWBWWBD) is our weekly peek at which haunts we’re headed to, which potions we’re pouring, and how we plan to ghost college football on game day. All treats, no trick plays.

misdreavus79: It's halloween, so I'll probably be taking children trick or treating for part of the game, since one of them is young enough to not make it if we start after the game ends.

Biff: Halloween (kid is going as a dragon) so after a light afternoon watching Minnesota’s College Gameday Curse get extended by Indiana I'll be filling a Yeti with bourbon and hot apple cider and setting off to the annual cul de sac Halloween party.

lincolnparkwildcat: Halloween. My family is getting all decked out in Minecraft costumes. The game is on probably right when trick or treating happens, so I'll catch scores on my phone and watch the rest when my son has his fill of candy. I'll fuel up on some pumpkin beers in and I've made some mental notes of the homes that have serve adult beverages to the parents in the neighborhood.

glass: 415 on a Saturday means I will be at Indianapolis Public Library (in my pumpkin costume) for kickoff. Handing out candy and drinking water.  Then I'll be headed to the rich neighborhoods in either Meridian Kessler or Rocky Ripple for trick or treating with kid glass and wife of glass and our traditional Halloween thermos full of way too strong hot toddy.

MNW: It's the kids' great-grandma's birthday on Sunday, so we'll do a craft and Red's Savoy pizza with her in the senior living center's happy hour room – oh no, I guess I over-ordered the pizza and I'll have to take a whole pepperoni home.

We'll be back in time to tune in to a little on Le Coq while the girls do their naps, then it's roasting the pumpkin seeds and continuing the Halloween tradition of a new themed food -- do we do Jack-o-Lantern quesadillas or hot dog spiders?

These are the tastiest creepy crawlies we know!

BuffKomodo: Cincinnati, Ohio. Garage beer sprinkled with Hoosier Gameday Lager. Hoping to catch a good buzz to get through Halloween activities followed by a quick pass out upon returning home.

RUReady4Brazil: Charlotte, NC. Hosting the entire Brazilian contingent in Western Charlotte for trick or treating in our neighborhood with whatever beer goes best alongside the pulled pork shoulder I need to make again after it was such a hit at the kid's birthday party.

BoilerUp89: Cincinnati. At my sister's house so drinking whatever she/my brother in law has laying around their fridge while I take the niece and nephew trick or treating.

IUinVA: Watching college football, then trick-or-treating with my sister-in-law’s family and kids. My wife, son, and I like to play a mobile game called “Brawl Stars.” For those familiar with the characters, my son is going as Leon, my wife is Shelly, and I’m Edgar.

Transient Buckeye: At home near Dayton.  I'll be playing nursemaid to the spouse, who's having surgery (again) on Friday (she'll be fine).  Water in the afternoon, beer in the evening.  Number of beers might go up if OSU loses to USC.  Of course, it might also go up if Ohio State beats USC.

deadread: I will be luxuriating in beautiful downtown Lincoln.

MaximumSam: Chateau Westerville, scheming a way to get someone to pick up my daughter from her marching band competition, which will be going on at the same time as the Buckeye game.

Brian: I'll be at the Los Angeles Coliseum this weekend, watching USC trying to right the ship against a suddenly vulnerable Ohio State.

He was a high school QB: If I'm not working, I’ll be in Old Town Mankato at the Dia de los Muertos Festival drinking a Dos Equis Amber or some such.

BRT: Settling in in Mannheim, Germany where I will be for the next seven weeks! Plans include grocery shopping and getting the lay of the neighborhood. Plans do not include watching Nebraska play, since it is a night game and will be prohibitively late. Good luck Huskers. I'll watch the replay for breakfast if you win.

thumpasaurus: With a baby too little to do Halloween stuff, I think we’ll go to the aquarium in Auburn hills MI.

I'll be drinking pedialyte to stave off the hangover after Detroit City FC’s first home playoff win in USL Championship history.

WSR: I'll be wandering around Minnesota with 4 kids in costumes. Pray for me.

HoustonBoiler: I will be at home, handling various chores as I need to continue prepping the beds for winter and begin clearing the patio. Plus, we may even have a few trick-or-treaters visit. We'll be handing out various, full-size Hershey products. I'd offer some candy to the scarecrow, but he's already stuffed. Water during the day and wine in the evening.

AlmaOtter: Sure, the trip to Ohio Stadium to see the Illini (and also the Buckeyes) was fun, but you know what's even better? Driving across the DMV to see the Illini in a winnable game vs the Terps! It's a damn shame that we won't get to see Locksley's magnificent beard, but it looks like the Terrapins are pulling out all the stops to get a real crowd. Three for one tickets? Free spring semester tuition if you stay into the 4th quarter? An epic hat giveaway?!?!

If this can't get SECU rocking, I'm not sure anything can.

Now you know our plans for the weekend. Please enlighten us about where you'll be and what you'll be drinking in the comments below. And hey, we know you didn't read this. 😉
