How did we do last week?

Positive Petittis!! This group kicked some serious butt last week with SIX participants going 5-1 on the week. Unreal; way to go. Cookies in the break room for everyone!*

*Please do not go looking for the break room, and if you do find cookies, DO NOT EAT THEM. We already have several lawsuits pending from the “cake incident” several weeks ago, even though we explicitly posted fliers kindly asking that you not bring in chef’s knives and play “is it cake?” throughout the office. And no, the asbestos would have been perfectly safe if you hadn‘t brought in your capuchin monkey, DAVE.

Week 5 Winner:

Congratulations to our Week 5 winner, Sasser, who went 5-1 and gained 85.5 Petittis! A monster effort that was barely pushed to the top on two highly consequential plays (more on that below).

Honorable mention: The results in Week 5 were CLOSE. Missing the Week 5 crown by half a damn point was Iron Monkee at 85. This barely edged out tech01 who had 83 points on the week. WOW. We have no intent of incorporating live scoring here at B1G Six Pack, but if we did (we won't), this would have been a race to watch. It looks like the deciding plays were a garbage time, 46-yard TD reception by Malachi Coleman for Wisconsin (his first catch since Week 1), and a garbage time, 48-yard field goal for Nico Radicic for Indiana. These teams won by a combined 50 points. The scoring may not have mattered in your games, Fickell and Cignetti, but it made all of the difference in ours.

Pick of the Week: Northwestern +2.5 (CEBell (CB), LTW_O_MI, Transient_Buckeye, Iron Monkee, WarlockofWestwood, tech01). Well, I believe that qualifies as a successful opener for the new stadium. Fresh off an impressive, Heisman-esque performance in the second half at Indiana by Aiden Chiles, Chip Kelly said "NAH!," and the Purple Cats just put it on Penn State by rushing for over 400 yards. Aided by this performance, $5 concessions, and a physical lack of seats, Northwestern students were on their feet for the whole game.

Dishonorable mention: Penn State -2.5 (DtownK (CB), redbear (CB), MNW, Rubber_Duck, allthegoodnamesargone, Mr_Grizz, LordFerentzofHouseKinnick). So Penn State finds themselves in this section for the second week in a row. This team blew a seventeen point lead at home the previous week against Wisconsin, was FAVORED on the road against a very good Northwestern team opening their new stadium, and you still picked them?! Yeesh. Oh look, they're favored again this week. Same time, same place next week, Nits?

Six Pack Certified (6-0): MNW (week 3).

This game requires a lot of data entry and I will make mistakes. Please let me know if you have any questions about scoring or if something looks wrong:

2026 OTR B1G Six Pack

Rules:

Make six picks every week. Correct picks are worth five points, incorrect picks are negative five points. Mark one of your picks as the Coldest Brew (CB), which will be worth ten points if correct, negative ten if incorrect. Bonus points are allocated based on deviation from the spread. Please include the spread with your pick (Iowa -3 (CB), Iowa/Opponent Over 36, etc). If anyone manages to get all six correct in a week, they’ll be Six Pack Certified and garner an additional twenty-five bonus points.

I’ll tabulate the scores and standings every week. If anyone missed previous weeks and would like to join, no problem! You’ll start at the current league median value of 950 Petittis. If I make any egregious errors (Ohio State as a 27 point underdog, when they are actually favored by 27), please let me know. Obvious spread errors won’t count.

Friday (“-“ means a team is favored):

Iowa at Washington (-3), O/U 41.5

Saturday (early):

Indiana (-7.5) at Nebraska, O/U 48.5

Ball State at Northwestern (-36.5), O/U 52.5

Saturday (mid-afternoon):

UCLA at Oregon (-11.5), O/U 58.5

Illinois (-2.5) at Michigan State, O/U 47.5

Maryland at Ohio State (-34.5), O/U 56.5

Saturday (evening):

Southern Cal at Penn State (-1.5), O/U 54.5

Minnesota (-2.5) at Purdue, O/U 50.5

I’ll add my picks in the comments. Have fun, and always Iowa Over responsibly.
