World Cup Recaps and Previews, Tuesday June 30: Shootouts at the FIFA Corral
Goddamn, that was a hell of a day for good soccer
Morning, all. I know we would ordinarily be stoked for something, anything, to break the sports monotony of June-August, regardless of its quality. But HOLY GOD, the World Cup has delivered. We've had buzzer-beater goals, extra time bangers, and penalty kicks. And that's just in the last 26 hours!
There are 28 remaining matches (hopefully not all contested in the impending continent-wide heat dome) before the games are done, the tournament's over, and we spend the remaining months waiting for something to break the monotony. It should be a hell of a finale if the last few days are our baseline.
And we'll be recapping, previewing, and generally shooting the shit through every single game. Today's game thread drops at 12:30ish PM ET/11:30 GTZ. We'll see you there for Norway-Ivory Coast, yeah?

Three traditional powerhouses today with Brazil, Germany, and the Netherlands. Anyone taking an upset pick?
