The OTR Basketball Tontine Game: Can You Survive 10 Picks in a Row?
Because there are never enough basketball game derivatives in this market!
Maybe you aren't great at brackets. Or you find the stress of making 67 discrete decisions exhausting. Or you're a sports junkie and need more silly basketball things to stress and obsess about. (It's probably that one.)
Introducing the OTR Survivor Pool (aka the Basketball Tontine). The rules are mostly simple: everyone picks a winner every day of the tournament (but not the Dayton games). And you can choose any team, doesn't need to be Big Ten teams only. If your team wins, you survive. If you lose, you're out. Easy. But you can't reuse a previously picked team. Less easy.
So that's two days of Round of 64 picks and two days of Round of 32 picks to make it out of the first weekend. If you happen to choose poorly in that first stretch, we will allow ONE re-entry. But the trick is that the you will need to pick two teams on your next set of choices in order to return to the pool.
As an example, if your pick shits the bed on Friday, you need to nail two picks on Saturday to get back in to the regular pool on Sunday. Same logic even if you lose on Sunday; two picks the following Thursday. No reentries allowed if you lose in the Sweet 16 or later.
I'll keep updates rolling throughout. Make your first day picks in the comments below!
