Basketball is full past the mid-season mark and somehow Nebraska has yet to lose (Paging Kind Of... NATIONS LONGEST WINNING STREAK!!). It's a weird time. Distractions are needed.
To that end: We've discussed this in various game threads before, but it feels like a great time to read a book together. Boys in the Boat. A crew of hardscrabble University of Washington rowers win the Olympic trials, head to the 1936 Olympics, and (spoiler) beat the shit out of the Nazi team with Hitler in attendance. A classic.
The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of and Death in WWII. Marine regiments full of college football stars are preparing for the invasion of Okinawa. They play a game of football on Guadalcanal. Written by the guy who wrote Friday Night Lights.
