Last Call for 2025 Bowls!
Avoid the amateurs on NYE. Stay in and watch football with niche college sports blog degenerates!
Please bear in mind that I'm writing this late (and decidedly not fully sober) on (what was once) Tuesday night after an emotional Illini win. Standard rules apply: if you're looking for real analysis, look elsewhere.
ReliaQuest Bowl
#23 Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4) v # 14 Vanderbilt Commodores(10-2)
12:00 ET, 11:00 GTZ. ESPN. Vandy -5.5. O/U 45.5.
Did you know that Cornelius Vanderbilt, scion of the Vanderbilt fortune and the benefactor of the university, wasn't a commodore? In fact, he wasn't even in the Navy. It was a nickname, an insult really. He was a 16 year old ferryman and an overly zealous one at that; his competitors called him 'Commodore' as a dig. It stuck, he got obscenely wealthy, and now Diego Pavia is stunting on fools with an anchor on his helmet. History is weird.
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Arizona State Sun Devils (8-4) v Duke Blue Devils (8-5)
2:00 ET, 1:00 GTZ. CBS. Duke -3.5, O/U 47.5.
Sun Devil v Blue Devil? Legitimately not sure if this is a Dungeons and Dragons bit or part of the 1980s satanic panic. Or why not both?
Cheez-It Citrus Bowl
#18 Michigan Wolverines (9-3) v #13 Texas Longhorns (9-3)
3:00 ET, 2:00 GTZ. ABC. UT -7, O/U 48.5.
In every bowl's desperate attempt to be as relentlessly fun as the Pop-Tart Bowl, I guess the Citrus Bowl made a cake for Bevo, the Texas mascot? Gonna need to do more than that, Citrus Bowl.
SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl
Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-5) v #15 Utah Utes (10-2)
3:30 ET, 2:30 GTZ. ESPN. Utes -14.5, O/U 50.5
Oh dear. This might get ugly. SRS Distribution sells roofing supplies; too bad Raiola is hanging his shingle elsewhere next season.
CFP Quarterfinal/Cotton Bowl
#10 Miami Hurricanes (11-2) v #2 Ohio State Buckeyes(12-1)
7:30 ET, 6:30 GTZ. ESPN. OSU -9.5, O/U 40.5.
And on to the first quarterfinal game! Winner moves on to either Georgia or Mississippi and a chance for the championship.
Sherman Grants Updates!
Holy shit, we cleared $4,000. Un fucking believable. Oregon has a solid lock on the top slot, but MSU and Wisconsin are battling out for second. Even more importantly, we have 12/18 of the fanbases represented!
