I Don’t Care if I Never Get Back: Bee One Gee Softball Week

It’s time for single-elimination softball! And for yet another sport, the damn west coast interlopers have taken the conference championship, as well as the top two seeds in the tournament! Congrats to the Oregon Ducks for another title in their inaugural Big Ten season. While there are 17 softball teams in the conference (USC, what are you doing without a team?), only the top 12 made the field for the tournament. With that, on to the bracket and the schedule!
Michigan, as they are wont to do, have won the most tournament titles with 11, including last year’s tourney, although they would need to take down Oregon in the second round to repeat this year. Nebraska just missed the #2 seed on a tiebreaker with UCLA and wouldn’t need to play the Ducks until the title game. I like Nebby as a slight dark horse. Nebraska and Iowa both ended their season on a four-game win streak in conference, while Maryland (not pictured in the bracket) closed it out with a 16-game conference losing streak. Might want to stick to lacrosse, crab people.
All games in West Lafayette, all times eastern, all pitches underhanded. We’ll see you on Wednesday at 11:00 am for Penn State-Iowa.
