FRIDAYYYYY March 27 Links and Banter
Let's fuckin goooooo
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Fuck yes. Illinois makes their second Elite Eight run in 3 years and also their second since the 2005 title game loss to UNC (spits). And Purdue squeaked past Texas on a literal last second tip-in from Trey Kaufman-Renn. And Iowa ran over Nebraska late to make their first Elite Eight showing since 1987's Hawkeyes led by Dr. Tom. That gives the venerable Midwestern OG conference of ours three of the eight slots in the Elite Eight.
It's happened twice since the 2000 title win for Michigan State: 2014, with Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Michigan, and 2005, with Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. This year, (admittedly with a larger conference and more money than we could possibly know what to do with) the Bee One Gee could presumably get 5 of the 8 berths. What a world. Strange days, indeed.
Iowa v Illinois for a Final Four slot. I'm sure there are families in Davenport and Quincy that are split, brothers divided from sisters, fathers divided from daughters. What a world.
Happy Friday, all.
